Did you notice a new change in Houston’s real estate landscape as of late? A new design, a new height or maybe a new color? So many buildings in Houston have turned a striking red color. So why do you think this trend has been observed? Is it to show their love or is it something else?
This last week saw so many buildings in Houston going red. From hospitals to museums, offices to residences and even the city hall were seen in red colors that stood in striking contrast against the skyline. The main aim behind all this red color is to show support for the Go Red for Women’s campaign which has been launched by the American Heart Association. The campaign’s main objective is to increase the awareness of heart disease. Throughout the month of February, the buildings will remain red.
Heart disease is an increasing problem in women, among whom nearly 33% deaths are caused. In the entire country, there are over 43 million women who suffer from heart disease.
A reputed commercial real estate agency went a step ahead to show their support. They went red not only in Houston, but also in other parts of the globe, in all the regions where they have set up their offices. Their senior vice president stated that they had made efforts to involve as many branches as they could so that awareness could be increased, not just in Houston, but at a global level.
Located just near the center of Houston, another building also depicted a red appearance, which was achieved by casting a red spotlight on the building. In another part of town, red lights have been installed on a building that comprises of 55 floors. Some other buildings have hung up red banners from the roof tops.
The buildings are not the only things that have gone red. This past Friday, all the individuals, who occupy the ‘red’ buildings, also dressed up in scarlet and participated in the ‘National Wear Red Day’. All these people were provided education about heart disease and were given relevant information for reading further. In some places, apples were handed out to represent a healthy heart.
A representative at the American Heart Association claimed that the campaign is not only increasing knowledge, but is also allowing people to participate in a healthy and fun activity.
