Most people think women cannot handle small repair tasks that arise now and then in every home. This couldn’t be further from the truth. A survey conducted in this regard has to say something totally opposite. The survey comprised of nearly 1,250 women as respondents and asked them various questions about the frequency with which they conducted DIY tasks. As per the responses, women can also manage these tasks pretty well, no matter what the opposite sex has to say in this regard.
According to the survey, 60% of the women claim they can manage most of the tasks around the house. Among these, 50% of women claim they can do these tasks just as well as their partners would do and the rest believe they are even better and more proactive than their partners. The survey asked these women the prime reasons behind why they manage these tasks. The majority of them stated that doing the repair work by themselves was actually the only way to get it done.
40% of the women also said that they had learned to manage all DIY tasks so they would not have to depend on their fathers, brothers or other male friends for them anymore.
Now what about the industry experts? Some of them have contradictory opinions. The survey was primarily focused on 10 tasks. These include the following: change bulbs and fuses, fix leaking taps and toilets, replace doorknobs, patch holes, paint walls, hang wallpapers and pictures, and seal windows.
Now some of these tasks are fairly simple to do. In light of this, a critic told the press that if the survey can regard changing bulbs in this category, then probably cooking can also be included.
As for the doorknobs and pictures, nearly anyone who is over 10 can do it quite successfully. So is the survey wrong? If you delve deeper, you will realize this is not really so, because the survey puts a very interesting fact forward. The task may be simple, but a woman’s independence to handle them must be appreciated. And if they are determined, they can get the difficult ones done as well.
So guys, avoid underestimating women when it comes to physical work; they can be just as handy as you are.
