The spring season is finally here. Time to pep up your home! A survey claims that this season most people will not be spending much on huge remodeling projects. Instead, they are focusing on smaller things that can be combined together for a powerful impact. The survey also stated that among the biggest trends are built-in cabinets, multipurpose antique furniture and cubbies featuring trays or baskets. What does all of this imply? Storage is being focused on widely these days.So do you want to know the latest storage trends? I talked to a couple of home designing experts and they told me that there are many myths which are just not true. In this blog I will attempt at debunking the most common storage myths:
Built-ins should always be custom – False
Not necessarily true. You can buy free-standing shelves or shelving units and save money at the same time. And as far as aesthetics are concerned, that is not an issue. You can paint it a stunning color, or stain it in a rich mahogany; then add a little shine to the surface, and it will look just as beautiful. Whatever you do, make sure it does not stress your budget.
A home designing expert told us that one of the best places to look for shelves is at a local resale shop. They will have many beautiful shelves or cabinets that should be considered. You can buy them for a lot less than retail and if you’re not happy with the color, you can get them painted or re-stained.
Open shelves and cubbies do not offer enough space – False
Not so. They actually offer ample amounts of storage space if you buy the right product and go for a quality container. Using baskets and trays can help you in increasing this space and they can hide all those items that appear as clutter in your room such as your clothes, electronics and even your books.
Decorating your home requires a lot of money – False
There are so many people who take this to be true, especially when it comes to antique furniture. This is not so. Look in the right places and you will find beautiful furniture bearing a good quality and being sold at affordable prices. A lot of products in the market are also multipurpose, providing you with additional storage options.
